Terms of Service

1. What HazFin is

HazFin aggregates publicly available environmental regulatory data — EPA RCRAInfo hazardous waste manifests and handler records, EPA ICIS-NPDES discharge permits, California CERS facility records, state water board stormwater permits, CDPH medical waste facility records, and FMCSA carrier safety data — and cross-references it so a facility's regulatory picture is visible in one place. HazFin does not create, verify, or certify any of the underlying data; it is compiled from the government systems named above.

2. Accounts

You need an account to view any data on HazFin. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when you register — an unconfirmed email address will not be approved for access. Do not share an account across multiple people or organizations; each subscription is for one user.

3. Subscriptions and billing

A free account gives limited access. A paid subscription is $20/month, billed automatically through Stripe until you cancel. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe — HazFin never receives or stores your card number. You can cancel at any time from your account; you keep paid access through the end of the billing period you already paid for. See our Refund Policy for how refunds and billing disputes are handled.

4. Acceptable use

You may not:

• Scrape, bulk-export, or systematically copy data from HazFin outside normal use of the interface
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, account tiers, or access controls
• Share your login credentials or resell access to your account
• Use HazFin to violate any law, or to harass, defraud, or misrepresent facts about any person or business named in the data

We monitor for automated or abusive access patterns and may throttle, suspend, or terminate an account that trips them.

5. No warranty on the data

HazFin is provided "as is." The underlying data comes from public government sources that are themselves sometimes incomplete, delayed, or in error — we make no guarantee that any record is current, accurate, or complete. HazFin is a research and cross-reference tool, not a substitute for your own compliance review, legal advice, or direct verification with the originating agency. Do not rely solely on HazFin for a regulatory, legal, or financial decision.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HazFin and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including decisions made in reliance on data shown here. Our total liability for any claim relating to HazFin is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account for violating these terms, for non-payment, or for activity that puts the service or other users at risk. You may close your account at any time by contacting us; paid subscriptions are cancelled the same way as described in Section 3.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. Continued use of HazFin after an update means you accept the revised terms. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date above.

9. Governing law
